One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, a tragic-comedy directed by Milos Forman and starring Jack Nicholson, is about a free-spirited rogue who takes over the ward of a mental hospital by a felicitous combination of chutzpah and ingenuity. Based upon Ken Kesey’s celebrated novel the film was produced by Saul Zaentz and Michael Douglas for Fantasy Films for release by United Artists, an entertainment service, of Transamerica Corporation.
