“The concert is our way of saying thank you to the men and women who serve in law enforcement agencies, and to let them know, their efforts and the sacrifices of their families do not go unnoticed or unappreciated, said Dave Hinners, USDSA Executive Director. In today’s current environment, law enforcement has faced a great amount of negativity and lack of support. A part of USDSA’s mission is to inform the public of the danger and challenges that law enforcement officer’s face. USDSA also strives to show that there is still support for law enforcement, and that many citizens truly recognize, appreciate and honor law enforcement. We want to invite the citizens of Wichita, to be a part of this wonderful much needed event”, said Hinners.

Eddie Money was the ideal choice to star in the National Salute to Law Enforcement Concert. Eddie Money was born Edward Joseph Mahoney in Brooklyn NY on March 21, 1949. Although he dreamed of being a musician after high school, Eddie decided to follow his father’s footsteps and became a New York City Police Officer. Eddie’s father and grandfather both retired from the NYPD and one of his brothers is a police officer. Eddie served for nearly two years when he decided to put his law enforcement career on hold to pursue music. While under the mentoring of legendary music producer Bill Graham, Eddie scored big! Graham himself said, “Eddie can do it all, sing, play and write”. His hit songs include Baby Hold On to Me, Take Me Home Tonight and Two Tickets to Paradise. He has sold over 28 million records. His songs are featured in movies and television and he has numerous appearances on television shows such as King of Queens and the Drew Carey Show. Prior to the start of the Concert, Eddie Money will be presented a Lifetime Achievement Award in Music by USDSA. “Eddie Money has demonstrated over the course of his music career, the highest ideals of professionalism in perfecting his craft. His background in law enforcement and that of his family brings pride on all members of the law enforcement family. We are honored to present him this most deserving award”, said Hinners.
